Opening up the Latin America Final, MEXICO CITY FURIA's crowd favorite, El Divino Xmas faced off against RIO SINISTRO's SnakeJorge, in a Hayabusa mirror match on DWA Coliseum. The match started fairly even, with SnakeJorge taking the first round, before El Divino Xmas went on an unstoppable warpath, stomping through five straight rounds of play on the explosive walls to take complete control of the scoreboard, 5-1 for MEXICO CITY FURIA.
The second battle of the night, on FIFA 08, started with a bit of its own special kind of drama, as Zerocero held up the jersey of the former RIO SINISTRO's FIFA player, DAVISSO, as he headed on stage to face Patan, as France and England respectively. The first half went scoreless, although exciting, as each player nearly closed on multiple opportunities to score, sending the crowd into frenzy. Patan put up the first number of the match about fifty seconds into the second half, forcing Zerocero to begin literally sweating the lead. Still, Zerocero was unable to tie the match up, showing an immense amount of emotion as he walked off the stage.
MEXICO CITY FURIA's Dead or Alive Female prodigy, Hitomi1, took on Yo Succubus, as Hayate and Kasumi respectively, on Kyoto in Bloom. Hitomi1 had taken a quick first round, before Yo Succubus was able to battle back for a round of her own. Hitomi1, not looking to be outdone, then destroyed Yo Succubus for four straight rounds to win out, the first of which a Greatest, with the second nearly following suit. Yo Succubus failed at making up for SnakeJorge's loss, allowing MEXICO CITY FURIA to walk away with a 10-2 lead overall for Dead or Alive.
The race started off brutally, with mEtAlX pushing his way into the pack off of the grid, and a smash up that really only punished DRZX, who was sent spinning behind the pack. UFO-79ERN took a few huge hits, ending up with mEtAlX pinning him into the wall as DRZX moved into second place. At this point, LEGITRACER was miles ahead of the pack, with the rest of the racers taking turns smashing back and forth in the standings, until UFO-79ERN was able to retake second, with mEtAlX in third, and DRZX in fourth. By this point, MEXICO CITY FURIA had been completely dominating the overall match.
Closing out the night, RIO SINISTRO had a chance of making up some points on their strong subject, Counter-Strike Source. RIO SINISTRO went straight to work, winning four straight offensive rounds on de_dust2 as the Terrorists, before the FURIA were able to retake a bomb plant in the A site to get themselves up on the scoreboard. Still, at that point it was looking ugly for the FURIA, as losing four straight rounds on defense is never a good way to start a match. The FURIA were able to battle back, picking up a few sporadic rounds, to make the first half score 6-3 in the SINSTRO's favor.
The SINSTRO moved into the second half, tasked with the challenge of either winning 9-0 to win the overall match, or 8-1 to force an overtime. The SINISTRO plowed through two quick rounds, and looked as if they had a third, but gave it up to the FURIA after a botched retake from CT spawn. The FURIA began to struggle again, needing only one more round to clinch the Latin America Final, as the SINSTRO continued to destroy everything they threw at them. With only three rounds left, the FURIA took a split into B, from the tunnels and middle, and managed to capitalize on a friendly fire kill by the SINSTRO to plant the bomb and win the round, consequently becoming the Latin America Champions. MEXICO CITY FURIA managed to win out for the remaining rounds, ending the game 11-7, and the overall match 22-16.
